Fill It With Love By Michael Davidson
The love of family isn't something that I've been used to but the ones I do have love me with all their might. Sometimes I may not always show it or find the words to say to them to let it be known, but I'm so thankful for them and I'd do anything for them. I have the most amazingly beautiful wife in the world and our little one will be here in 5 more months. That baby truly is a gift from God (you can read our story here.) and I know it will be perfect. I buy things here and there for the baby and every single time I do I get little butterflies in my stomach. The bible says in Ephesians to not provoke your children but to bring them up in the discipline of the Lord. I'm so grateful that we found God before we had our child. Who knows, maybe that's why it was taking so long. Because with God I am nothing and I really don't want my child to grow up in a house where the name of Jesus is never mentioned. Proverbs 22:6 says if you raise your kids right, when they get older they're not going to forget it and depart from it. (I'm paraphrasing.) 1 Corinthians 13 is the chapter of love in the bible. If we do all these great things in life and all these great deeds but don't have love, does it really matter? No. When the bible tells us to love our brother and sister they're referring to our families also. I wish I had a closer relationship with the rest of my family but I just don't. And honestly, I'm okay with that. Bad company corrupts good character and sometimes that bad company comes in the form of family. My wife is so amazing and I love her to death. I think all the people who don't read the bible and like to point blame on Christians know that the bible speaks against divorce. I think that's everyone's go-to defense when someone condemns them for their lifestyle. (That and shaving a man's face and cutting their hair but that's a whole other blog post - Read the whole chapter of Leviticus, not just the verse.) But the bible doesn't just speak out against divorce. Yes, if you're married you need to keep that commitment you made in front of God and everyone else but you also need to have a happy marriage and work on things on a daily basis. Ephesians 5:25 says for Husbands to love their wives like Christ loved the church. verse 26 & 27 says to take care of her like Jesus would a a Holy church! Present yourself to her like Jesus would present himself to the church; blemish free, holy & blameless. The book of Titus says that women should teach their daughters to love their husbands and their families. Broken homes are everywhere these days and people need to realize that Jesus is the one to fix it. Not a bottle, not a girls night out, but the word of God. Don't lose God when you walk out of the church, bring Him into your home with you. Apply His word to your daily living in your families lives. Pass it down from generation to generation so that your children will grow up to do the same. Wives, love your husbands (Ephesians 5:22). Husbands, love your wives (1 Peter 3:7) Children, obey your parents (Ephesians 6). Life's not long enough to be filled with anything other than love and happiness and peace. Be quick to apologize and easy to love. There's a big world out there full of people ready to tear you down and break you apart, save the negatives for all those people. Fill the walls of your home with love.
